Last Post Till Spring

We left EM on Nov 9 and arrived at DP on Nov 11. Usually we take 3-nights on the road to get to DP, so we surprised ourselves by it taking us only 2-days to get there. Since I like to keep travel logs, I jotted down our mileage each day and road notes along the way. We stopped for the first night at Grand View Canyon in Idaho, and stayed the second night in the Mojave National Preserve in southeastern California. We drove a total of 980 miles.

We bookmarked 5-days to pack, prep and winterproof our homestead at Empty Mountain. We do our best to cover up what needs to be covered up and lock up what needs to be locked up, and then we hope for the best when we return home in the early spring.

It’s been a good year for us at EM. The learning curve of living off-grid and without running water is getting less steep, and we are slowly improving our systems. And we look forward to continuing the adventure of building & growing next year.

Please keep an eye on our calendar of events tab for program & retreat info next year. And we’ll resume our weekly blog posts in March or April.

Sleep tight under a blanket of winter snow, sweet Empty Mountain. We miss you and love you so.
